Concordia Montessori is a small, private Montessori community
providing an affordable, quality, full-day educational option for children 12 months to 6 years of age in our NE Portland community.

Our Infant/Toddler Program is for children ages 12 months - approximately 42 months.  This program, which will open July/August 2012, will be co-led by a credentialed Montessori guide and an experienced RIE inspired educarer.

Our Children's House Program is for children ages 3 - 6 years.  This classroom is led by an AMI credentialed Montessori lead guide, an AMS credentialed Montessori guide, and a certified Montessori assistant.

What We Do

We practice Montessori methods with a focus on following the child.
We maintain an environment rich in opportunities for discovery and mastery.
We incorporate French language study and practice into our daily routines.

We provide each child with lessons and activities that meet their needs and interests.
We offer a strong, hands-on ecology curriculum and are an eco-certifed program.
We assist students to plant, harvest, and prepare the bounty produced in our gardens.
We foster independence, accomplishment, friendship, courtesy, curiousity, caring and self-direction.
We enjoy fine music, art, and literature with our students.
We discuss the world and learn about the great peacemakers.

Both of our locations are located in the Concordia neighborhood, two blocks from Faubion Elementary School.  Our schools are located in residential dwellings dedicated to providing authentic Montessori environments.  Our toddler program
offers a maximum enrollment of 10 students in an intimate, comfortable and enriching setting with a ratio of 1:5.

Our Children's House (3-6 years old) Program offers a maximum enrollment of 16 students, with a work-period ratio of 1:5 and an afternoon ratio of 1:8.  This program offers great opportunity for exploration in our indoor and outdoor classrooms.  Both spaces benefit from an urban farming and French language program.

Concordia Montessori is committed to being a caring, safe community in which children, their families and our staff demonstrate mutual respect and responsibility within and beyond the classroom. Our curriculum strives to stimulate interest and exploration in language, numbers, music, movement, art, culture, and the natural world
.

We proudly use Montessori materials made of GREEN lumber that are certified as free of heavy metals and serve organic, whole food meals and snacks that are fresh and nutritious.  We believe fresh air is food for growing minds and ‘go out’ daily in all seasons.  Our outdoor spaces, NWF Certified Wildlife Habitats, offer shelter to encourage comfortable outdoor experiences and movement throughout the rain of winter and the heat of summer.

Please visit our contact page to get in touch to schedule an interview.
